The tale is tragic, the story improbable – the impossible love between two steam engines. In a train station in the USSR, Ramona, a softhearted, sprightly locomotive is totally smitten with a robust, steel engine. But love at first sight is thwarted by a rail switch mishap. Steaming along the tracks through many different countries to the rhythm of Eastern folk music, the two engines try desperately to get back together. Along the way, a travelling circus with its troupe of acrobats adds its own particular magic to this de-railed love story.
It is with tremendous emotion that we discover the melancholic and magical world of this Georgian puppeteer. A distinguished artist in different media, Rezo Gabriadze asserts himself as the inventor of an entire theatrical universe, populated with a bevy of little people made from paper and scraps.
This is a show that is simultaneously sophisticated and simple, lyrical and full of humour, created by a consummate artist. Béatrice Picon-Vallin Théâtre du blog
