The electrifying troupe of Eclaireurs is catapulted into the future. With slapstick and unsettling humour, there is no shortage of questions: will misery and misfortune still exist? Will we still fall ill? What will we eat? Through a brilliant and thought-provoking script written by Stefano Massini (Director of the Piccolo Teatre in Milan), technological advances and globalisation become terrifyingly farcical. On the menu: pizzas from food supplement pills, education by data transfer via electronic chips, a “happiness spray” to help us forget our worries, all-pervasive advertising….
Veering between laughter and hard-hitting rumination, Irina Brook’s young troupe transports us to a future world.
This is theatre that holds up a mirror to the world and safeguards humanism, between philanthropic optimism and informed insightfulness. Catherine Robert, La Terrasse
